Deadline to claim apprenticeship incentive payment just “weeks away”
The deadline to apply for the apprenticeship incentive payment is just weeks away, employers have been warned.
Businesses who hired an apprentice with an employment start date from 01 April to 30 September need to apply by 30 November 2021.
For those with an employment start date from 01 October 2021 to 31 January 2022, however, the deadline is 15 May 2022.
Under the scheme, employers can earn up to £3,000 to cover the cost of apprenticeships, such as uniform, specialist equipment, travel, relevant licenses and memberships to professional bodies or industry associations, training, and salary.
The non-repayable grant comes in addition to the existing £1,000 an employer will automatically receive for taking on an apprentice who is either aged 16 to 18 years old or is under 25 years old and has an education, health and care plan or has been in the care of their local authority.
To claim the grant, you must first add the apprentices to your apprenticeship service account and submit an application for each eligible apprentice.
The Government will send the payment in two equal instalments for each apprentice. The first and second instalment will be paid after your apprentice has completed their first 90 and 365 days, respectively.
