Workers claiming Working Tax Credit urged to update their hours

Workers in receipt of Working Tax Credit (WTC), have been urged to check if they need to update their working hours.

WTC tops up the earnings of those on a low income. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) says people need to check their hours if these have reduced as a result of coronavirus and want to make sure people are not faced with paying back funds they were not entitled to, and potentially incur a penalty.

Transitionary rate of VAT for hospitality comes into force

The temporary reduced rate of VAT for hospitality has increased to a transitionary rate from today, 01 October 2021.

The new rate of 12.5 per cent will remain until 31 March 2022, when it reverts to the standard rate of 20 per cent.
